The home is located in an area outside of Calgary which often experiences high winds so this shingle was a great choice. It comes standard with a 110 mph limited wind warranty, which can be upgraded to a 130 mph wind warranty when conditions are met. The shingles were installed using storm nailing to increase the durability. Storm nailing means that two nails were used above each cutout, rather than just one. The shingle has a class 4 impact resistance and in simulated tests 2” hail was dropped on the roof at speeds seen in severe storms and no damage was caused.

The ridge cap on the home is a Malarkey EZ Ridge XT color matched in Black Oak. It is also high profile to add consistency to the roof. A premium underlayment was used and all exhaust vents were changed to a Duraflow WeatherPro. Visit our page on Ventilation to find out the importance of proper ventilation for the home.

The Malarkey Windsor shingle comes in a variety of colors including Antique Brown, Heather, Midnight Black, Natural Wood, Storm Grey, and Weathered Wood.
